Report translated into English (with reservations for getting the translations done correct) An anthology racing Corby 26 'Casper'
Followed a board spinnaker (2) to 115 ° wind of 10 miles. The wind began to cool to 18 knots. The gap with the second remained stable.
The third leg was a long board reaching 7.5 miles, the wind continued to climb to 25 knots, we took a risk. We were too canvas and we should have put the Solent.
The 5th board was fabulous, to rebuild our backlog, we sent our 3rd spi code 5, asymmetrical small breeze. A 120-130 ° of wind, sea and the waves were strong, we did some long surfs lasted over 20 seconds, reaching over 15 knots speedo. In surfing, we catch up with waves that preceded the boat and the bridge was submerged in water, unbelievable. The vessel has remained stable, the carbon rudder is magic!
As we navigating this pace, we feared that the return leg and looked at length.
Before the board spinnaker, I risked on the close range before to replace the Genoese by the Solent. Kneeling on the beach before, I had the thighs and legs covered by the waves engulfing the bridge.
Still, 13 miles from the edge have been too much to catch up with the 32S5, we arrived at the buoy "St Marcouf" in his ass.
The 6th board was used to take a risk. Then it was back to leeward. It must be said that it was our first outlet in the breeze and wondered how I would behave at the leeward boat with waves face.
The beginning of the 7th board was surprising is that we've had more wind, the speedo exceeded 30 knots, and with one reef and Solent, we were a little too canvas. The boat completely gîté gave us the impression of standing in the cockpit, rest against the hold-mast. The behavior was healthy, saffron has allowed us to control every ship in waves, it crossed the waves retaining good speed, we had the feeling of power at almost the yachts offered much bigger.
We have not taken more than 10 minutes to double the 32S5.
We had the chance to make the last 3 edges on each leg 1. The wind was a little molli on the end to 20-22 knots which was more comfortable and has spent more west.
At the finish, after 12 hours 10 race, we end almost 1 / 2 hour before the 32S5, which was sailing crew.
The square was in a mess and everything was incredible soaked returned after the 3 spis genoa and completely wet.
We are pleased to have done this regatta and without breaking anything. We were ranked 2nd.
Navigating more rational, we would certainly have won this regatta.

Conor Ronan and the Ruthless crew win IRC Class 2 overall.
Powered by North 3DL upwind and Gradient Spinnakers Downwind
I am just back from a very enjoyable two days racing with Conor Ronan and the Ruthless crew on their Corby 26. This years WIORA and NORA regatta was being run under the banner of the Cliften boat club. It was to be a four day event sailed with a variety of courses including windward leeward, triangles and a longer coastal type race. This years regatta was a credit to the Club with excellent organisation and top class race management.
Conor Ronan has only been racing now for a little over 18 months and is on a very steep learning curve! He has taken advantage of working with North Sails Ireland to get the best from his new boat in the shortest possible time. This included kitting the boat out with 100% North Sails from new and also taking advantage of our coaching and racing services. Personally I have only raced with this team twice but with additional coaching from my colleage Maurice O’Connell and the determination of this young crew has paid dividends.
When I arrived in Cliften I was greated with the news that we needed to win at least three of the remaining four races to have a chance of winning our class! Quite a tall order as class two IRC is very competative and has a good mix of boats almost all bigger than the Corby 26. Normally having a bigger boat is an advantage in stronger winds or choppy water but we were lucky to find my first day with the team bring us very light winds flat water and blazing sunshine! We had two great races taking a 2nd and then a 1st overall for the day. The Corby excells in the light winds but even with this advantage we were pushed hard all day by the Humphrys ¾ toner Marissa IX. Having a dedicated 3DL Light Genoa was a great help powering us along in the flat water for the day.
Day two started with rain and strong winds, the more normal conditions for the West Coast or Ireland. Heading out for the start I was wondering how we would perform against the fleet in the 16-25 knots forecast? Two great races followed and against the odds we managed to win them both by small but significant margins. This final win was enough to take us to the top of the leader board and secure the Class 2 IRC overall prize.
I was delighted with the performance of this little Corby boat and was impressed by her ability in the stronger winds. I also have to say that the Ruthless crew are a pleasure to sail with and as time passes they will become a force to be reckoned with in Class two.
Congratulations guys for a great regatta, keep up the good work.
Sail Fast.

Despite being very slightly longer than the older 25 design, the main difference with this newer boat is the centre of buoyancy which is much further forward. This results in a smoother and faster hull shape but also requires the bulb weight to be further forward as well, hence the T-keel.

This weekend is was time again to start the racing season in Sweden with Lidingö Round the Island, this year 401 boats entered the race.
Corby 33 'Inga from Sweden' came in on second place in class Lys 0, beating all A35s on the water, and only one X-35 managed to clear the Corby 33 on the water.
The brand new just launched Corby 26 'www.ircbots.com' won class Lys 1, beating all First 31.7s on the water.

The Corby IRC26 (new for 2007), a proper little yacht. Inboard sail drive engine. Sturdy rig. Roomy interior. IRC rating 0.960
Foam core, continuous fiber reinforcement and Vinylester resin. Alloy rig with overlap genoa.
The inevitable question is how does this boat differ from the old 25. The Corby 25 started in 2000 and since then underwater shapes have become smoother because of torpedo keels. The bulb weight of a torpedo keel is further forward so the centre of buoyancy of the hull can also move forward, hence less hull volume under the cockpit and a smoother overall hull shape.
The 26 still carries an overlap rig and above the waterline will look very similar to the 25 however downwind it will be noticeably quicker. The cockpit is bigger and the inside has been updated.
The IRC26 will fit inside a 40 foot container, so deliveries worldwide available at good rates!
Delivered as a complete package this boat makes a superb entry club racer, trailer width and centre-liffting points makes launching and moving the boat between regattas very easy.
