Alegre Wins Britannia Cup

Alegre the Mills Design IRC 68 stormed around the Solent to win the Britannia Cup, the most prestigious trophy raced for during Cowes Week.  Alegre sailed a strong race tactically to leverage her performance in the light airs of Wednesday, finishing half an hour on the water and 8 minutes on corrected time ahead of the next competitor.  The Britannia Cup was originally given to the RYA by King George VI to foster big boat competition, and it has remained the most desirable trophy of the event bringing out the largest Class Zero fleets each year.

Cowes Week 2008

Adam Gosling who in 2005 won the whole of Cowes Week in our production 29 Yes! (hull #02) this year sailing the great KER 39 finished 2nd in IRC 1.

The only production boat from us this year Corby 33 'Iskareen' finished 12th in IRC 3.

Ngoni is Copa Del Rey Champion 2008

The Mills Design IRC 40 Ngoni helmed by owner Tony Buckingham swept to victory in the IRC 2 class of the Copa Del Rey, Spains most prestigious event held every year in Palma. In ideal conditions Ngoni looked strong all week with 5 firsts and three seconds in the 10 race series, making the final outcome clear with a day to spare.  The use of IRC in this major event is a sign of its increasingly widespread acceptance, with two well attended classes this year producing excellent racing.

Baltic Sprint Cup

Baltic Sprint Cup is over, above photo is from the stop over in Gdansk, The Simon Rogers 46s did very well taking all poduim places, 1st, 2nd and 3rd!

"Danebury, skippered by Mike Castania was placed 1st overall but went home clutching not only a number of leg trophies but also the overall team winners trophy. David Aisher with Yeoman XXIII was equally happy with his 2nd overall. He is already looking forward to the 2009 event and particularly enjoyed visiting so many different countries in such a short space of time. Lithuania was a favourite for many competitors, with few people ever having visited before."
