Welcome

The production costs have made the IRC26, IRC29 and IRC33 much more affordable to the club racer, every bit as fast as their more expensive one-off custom built yachts.

John Corby's Winning Formula:

The responsive, easily driven hull with its narrow, slick waterline reduces the wetted surface to give the ultimate light airs performance and yet the deep fin keel and heavy bulb provides all the stability required in heavy airs when beating or running, combine this with the efficient High aspect rig, modest working sail area and large masthead spinnaker = Fantastic all-round performance with the boat-speed and upwind angles many larger Cruiser / Racers can only envy.

The perfectly balanced hull form & rig configuration rewards the helmsman every-time. With some intelligent sail trimming from the crew & precision steering at the helm these little boats become 'Giant Slayers' !

This ballast to weight ratio provides devastating upwind performance even when sailing shorthanded with reduced crew / weight on the rail.

Corby 29 - Overall winner of Cowes Week 2005

This new 29 is a massive boat compared to the Corby 25, yet the Corby 29 is still cute, boasts plenty of interior and is affordable. Design, cost and rating studies all pointed to 29ft as being the natural progression. Any longer and the jump in size is bigger than it needs to be. What's more is that it incorporates the underwater hull shape features of my new 41.5 Wahoo, which has been winning with ease in the USA this season. The 29 really is the ultimate club racer.

The Corby IRC26

The Corby IRC26 (new for 2007), a proper little yacht. Inboard sail drive engine. Sturdy rig. Roomy interior. IRC rating 0.960

Foam core, continuous fiber reinforcement and Vinylester resin. Alloy rig with overlap genoa.

The inevitable question is how does this boat differ from the old 25. The Corby 25 started in 2000 and since then underwater shapes have become smoother because of torpedo keels. The bulb weight of a torpedo keel is further forward so the centre of buoyancy of the hull can also move forward, hence less hull volume under the cockpit and a smoother overall hull shape.

The 26 still carries an overlap rig and above the waterline will look very similar to the 25 however downwind it will be noticeably quicker. The cockpit is bigger and the inside has been updated.

The IRC26 will fit inside a 40 foot container, so deliveries worldwide available at good rates!

Delivered as a complete package this boat makes a superb entry club racer, trailer width and centre-liffting points makes launching and moving the boat between regattas very easy.
